France has a long history in baseball as the second oldest national federation of Europe (1924) and a founding member of the European Baseball Confederation (1953). France's best result on the international stage is a bronze medal at the 1999 European Championship, a feat nearly repeated in 2014 when "Les Bleus" fell one victory short of a new bronze medal. France's first appearance at the WBC Qualifier in 2012 featured a defeat to tournament winner Spain and an epic extra-inning lost to South Africa.
